Baitrunners & Carp Reels

These types of reels are designed for angling, they look like regular spinning reels but there are things that distinguish them. A baitrunner usually has an incredibly high line capacity and by having two brake systems, lets you release the spool so that the line can run free without giving too much resistance when the fish takes the bait.

Big pit reels are a good choice when you want to reach extreme casting lengths, have a large line capacity and crank in extra long line per crank. This can be for example during carp fishing when you are casting out groundbait with a spod rod or during coastal fishing when it is important to cast far out to reach the fish. Unlike baitrunners, these reels do not have a free spool function, but compensate for this with extra large spools and powerful cranks.
