Rio Elite Scandi MDC Kit Long

RIO Elite Scandi MDC Kit Long is a complete, ready-to-fish Scandi-style shooting head system for two-handed salmon fishing on larger rivers. It combines the punch and turnover of a Skagit system with the smooth, elegant presentation of a classic Scandi head, giving you precise control of depth, swing and presentation with one well-balanced setup.

Each kit includes a matched SlickShooter shooting line, an Elite Scandi Body and four 18ft MDC (Multi Density Control) tips in different densities, all neatly stored in a practical tip wallet. The Scandi head is designed to load modern Spey rods quickly and efficiently, making it very easy to cast even for intermediate Spey anglers. The taper produces tight, stable loops that turn over the supplied tips cleanly, whether you are fishing shallow with a floater or digging deeper with fast-sinking combinations.

This Long version with 18ft tips is ideal for 13ft and longer double hand rods, where you need efficient line control and long, controlled swings on bigger salmon rivers. For each situation you can choose between the included tip options: Floating, Float/Hover/Intermediate, Hover/Intermediate/Sink 3 and Intermediate/Sink 3/Sink 5. The triple-density design steps the sink rate along the tip, reducing belly and giving a more even depth and smoother swing. The clear intermediate section on the F/H/I tip adds extra stealth when fish are wary in clear water.

Colour-coded welded loops on the front of the body and the back of each tip make it simple to match the right tip to the right head on the riverbank. The printed ID on the front of the head helps you identify the line at a glance. Built on RIO’s ultra-low stretch ConnectCore Plus, the system offers excellent bite detection, positive hook sets and secure control when playing strong salmon and sea trout. With fast-loop connections at both ends, changing tips and rigs is quick and efficient, allowing you to adapt to changing water levels, currents and holding lies throughout the day.
