Umpqua Mayhem Crab Chicone Ghost #2

Umpqua Fly Mayhem Crab Chicone is a carefully designed crab imitation for targeting selective predators on sandy bottoms. Two monofilament keels, each weighted with tungsten beads, drive the fly quickly down into the strike zone and help it track true, even in current or wave action.

The heavy keels also kick up a distinct puff of sand when you strip the fly, imitating a crab’s natural defence of trying to bury itself. This subtle disturbance is highly visible to fish hunting along the bottom and often triggers aggressive takes from species that key in on mole crabs and similar crustaceans.

A small tuft of bonefish pink Finnish raccoon represents the bright orange egg sac found on larger female crabs and adds a lifelike pulse and colour contrast. Natural fur materials give the fly an organic movement in the water, even on slow retrieves or when the fly is just hovering above the sand.

Available in several effective colours and in size 2, Mayhem Crab Chicone is well suited for clear, shallow venues where fish have time to inspect their prey closely.
