At the heart of the Sage Shift LT Fly Reel is the proprietary SGS Drag System – a USA-developed, Pacific Northwest-sourced sealed carbon drag. The new sealing architecture uses redundant internal seals to effectively block water intrusion and minimise the risk of internal corrosion, making it well suited for both freshwater and light saltwater use. The drag is smooth, consistent and built to handle fast runs and sudden surges from strong fish.

The numbered One Revolution Drag Knob gives you 39 distinct, detented settings within a single full turn. This allows you to fine-tune drag pressure with precision, from ultra-light settings for thin tippets and small flies, to heavy stopping power for powerful fish. Because each setting is clearly indexed, it is easy to return to the exact drag pressure you prefer for a specific species or water type.

The Shift LT is built around a cold forged and fully machined spool and frame, which provides superior strength and rigidity while keeping weight very low. The large arbor design ensures fast line pick-up and helps reduce line memory, an advantage when you need to quickly clear slack or keep tight contact with the fish. The spool design features an integrated counterweight for balanced rotation, helping the reel run smoothly at high speeds when a fish takes off downriver.

A ported and machined reel handle offers a secure grip even with wet or cold fingers, while further shaving off unnecessary weight. Converting between left-hand and right-hand retrieve is straightforward, making the reel flexible if you change your setup or lend it to a fishing partner.
