RIO Elite Scandi Body is a highly versatile Scandi style shooting head body that blends Skagit-like power with the smooth, controlled delivery of a classic Scandi head. Designed for modern salmon and sea trout fishing in European rivers, it allows you to fine‑tune depth, swing and presentation simply by changing balanced floating or sinking tips. The compact Scandi head shape makes the line exceptionally easy to cast, quickly loading your Spey or Switch rod and delivering tight, efficient loops. The weight distribution is optimised to turn over a wide range of tips and flies with minimal effort, giving you clean turnover and long flight time whether you are fishing small summer doubles or heavier early‑season tubes. Built on RIO’s ultra‑low stretch ConnectCore Plus, the Elite Scandi Body offers excellent bite detection, firmer hook‑sets and improved control during the fight. Available in three densities – Floating, Hover/Intermediate and Intermediate/Sink 3 – this system covers almost all river conditions throughout the season. The floating body is ideal for summer and lower water, providing delicate presentation of smaller flies. The Hover/Intermediate body sinks slowly and comes into its own in wind, cooler weather and stronger flows, helping you maintain a stable swing just under the surface. For early season, deep pools and higher water heights, the Intermediate/Sink 3 body gets the fly down with control while still casting smoothly. It pairs perfectly with RIO’s 12 ft dual density and 18 ft triple density MDC tips: the 12 ft versions suit Switch rods and two‑handed rods under 13 ft, while the 18 ft versions are ideal for 13 ft and longer double handers.
