OPST Commando Skagit Head are short and easy to cast fly line heads. Allows you to cast big flies with light tackle in very tight spaces!
The OPST Skagit Commando Head from OPST is the result of many years of development in skagit line fishing. Ed Ward, who has been at the forefront of the development of skagit fishing in North America, has now, after many years of experience and development, produced the compact and very easy to cast Pure Skagit Commando Head line from OPST.
The OPST Skagit Commando Head is a fly line that is shorter than "traditional" skagit lines and is based on a casting style that does not include a pause before the last cast movement. In other words, the line is made for a skagit cast where the entire movement from anchor to load to cast takes place without pausing. However, this does not mean that the line casts poorly with a pause before the last movement of the cast that pushes the line away. Try it out with or without a pause and see what you like best and what you think gives you the best results.
The Pure Skagit Commado Head works great for any rod from a one-handed #3 up to shorter two-handed rods!
The lengths and weights of the lines make it an excellent fit for single handed! Transfer the same casting technique from your Switch or two-handed fly rod to your one-handed fly rod and cast streamers for perch, trout or why not cast your pike flies with 9' #8 and a Commando Head line?
Complement your Commando Head with OPST Commando Tips - the sinking tips are made for just these easy-casting short skagit lines!
Length of lump
150-175g - 3,7m
200-275g - 4,1m
300-375g - 4,5m
400-425g - 5m
450-475g - 5,49m
NOTE - The thinnest end of the lump should be against the shooting line!
