The Night Shadows rod range is a great case in point. Developed for freshwater angling, these rods exude class. Illex have selected the finest component including high modulus Japanese TORAY carbon blanks and FUJI Alconite rings and reel seats.

These slim profile rods are discretely finished and we have gone back to combining top quality Portuguese cork with high density EVA on the handles. To meet the needs of the most demanding anglers the Illex design team have created three families within the range each dedicated to a target species: perch and zander, black bass and pike.

Night Shadow rods show what happens when Japanese technology is applied and developed to specifically meet the needs of European anglers.

Designed for baitcasting specimen hunters, the NIGHT SHADOWS B 240 XH Reservoir Dog is built using a composite for fibreglass and carbon to help absorb the vibrations of oversized lures. The use of glass also softens the action when playing hard fighting fish reducing the chances of hook pulls and helps compress the blank fully when casting long distances.

The rod is long enough to punch big baits out from the shore or a boat and give you total control when working back big 175 or 200 size Dexter Shads. Adding some fibreglass to the blank helps reduce fatigue from excess lure vibration and helps compress the blank more fully on each cast – important when distance is a factor to reach wary, educated fish in clear water. Softening the action with fibreglass also helps when playing hard fighting pike and keeps hook pulls to a minimum.

The NIGHT SHADOWS B 230 XXXH The Ghost Dog has been two years in development. The design brief was to create a baitcasting rod capable of fishing XXL hard and softbaits for XXL sized fish in the most challenging environments.

Capable of casting lures up to 300g or trolling lures as heavy as 400g. The ultimate rod for big river, large lake or reservoir specimen hunting. The perfect rod for taking to dream destinations like Sweden, Spain, Ireland, Quebec or Holland. Using an element of fibreglass in the blank helps absorb excess lure vibrations and compresses the rod better when casting oversized lures.
