Morakniv

The area around Mora has a long tradition of knife making, since about 400 years ago sharp knives have been produced for the rest of the world. The seeds of what would become one of the world's most popular knife makers were sown as early as 1891 when Frost-Erik Erson returned home to the village of Östnor in Mora after four years working as a lumberjack in North America. In the same year, he founded a sledge factory that produced sledges, pulleys and knives for the workshop's internal use. At that time, it was important to conserve resources and using leftover material from production was more or less taken for granted. It would prove to be a successful business idea.
