Wapsi Sow Scud Back is a transparent, highly elastic back material designed for tying nymphs, scuds and other larva patterns. It creates a realistic, segmented back on sow bugs, freshwater shrimps and similar imitations.

The strip is tied in at the hook bend at the start of the fly, the larva body is dubbed or wrapped, then the strip is pulled over as a shellback and secured with ribbing. This gives a durable, nicely shaped profile that stands up well to repeated takes.

Thanks to its elasticity, Wapsi Sow Scud Back is easy to control and sits tightly over the body, even on smaller hooks. The 1/8" (3.2 mm) width works very well for normal and smaller patterns on hook sizes #10–16, making it a versatile choice for river and stillwater fly boxes.
