Summary

Bonefish fly with larger profile, subtle weight and lively rubber legs for clear flats. Designed to tempt selective Bahamian bonefish.

Productinformation

Umpqua Fly Bonefish Junk Craven’s Light is a purpose-built bonefish pattern developed by Charlie Craven after many days on the South Andros flats. Tied on larger hooks from #4 up to #2 and around 3 inches in length, it offers a prominent profile that big, wary bonefish can spot and track from distance, even in bright conditions and deeper water.

The fly combines a translucent body with a distinct hotspot of orange or pink and mobile rubber legs. This mix gives both visual attraction and convincing shrimp-like movement, even on slow strips. Light weighting keeps the fly riding correctly while entering the feeding zone with minimal splash, which is helpful when you need a careful presentation to pressured fish.

Bonefish Junk Craven’s Light grew out of extensive tweaking of the classic Gotcha, evolving into a separate pattern that targets the behaviour observed on Bahamian flats: bonefish confidently chasing prey that moves further and faster than many anglers expect. Fish it with longer, steady pulls or short darts over sand and turtle grass, adjusting retrieve speed to the mood of the fish and the guidance of your local guide.
