Umpqua Betts Z-Lon

mpqua Betts Z-Lon Standard is a crinkly synthetic material that covers a lot of fly tying needs without fuss. The kinky fibres trap tiny air pockets, which gives emergent caddis pupae, shucks and wing cases a convincing, slightly translucent look in the surface film. It also works well as a coarse dubbing when a fly needs structure and a bit more profile.

Use it for wings on dry flies, trailing shucks on emergers, or as tail material on nymphs and small dries. The colour range from Brown and Dark Olive to Cream, Dun and White lets you imitate many common insects in both clear and coloured water. A good choice when tying patterns for trout and grayling that should look natural and slightly rough rather than too perfect.
