Shimano Ultegra XSD 5500

The Shimano Ultegra 5500 XTD and XSD are compact Big Pit/Surfcasting reels from the Ultegra range, which has been a best-selling choice for many years. They combine high build quality with X-SHIP technology for the smooth performance associated with the Ultegra XTD/XSD. The Ultegra 5500 XTD features a stealth finish and is suited to smaller carp waters, where its compact size balances lighter test curve rods. It is especially suitable for short 9ft-11ft rods and can also be used for barbel fishing in large rivers with heavy leads and feeders. The silver/gunmetal Ultegra XSD is a compact long-range surfcasting reel for lightweight rods in the 80-120g casting range. Casting performance is supported by Parallel Body design and Slow Oscillation. Instant Drag allows fast changes from freespool to playing a fish and makes it easier to lock down the spool for long-range casting into the surf. With hundreds of thousands in use around Europe, the reel has proven longevity.
