The Speedmaster II is a new addition to Shimano's conventional lever drag line up. The 2-Speed Gearing is very helpful: when the bait / lure needs to be retrieved fast, the angler can use the 5.7:1 gear ratio which winds in 107 cm per rotation of the handle. When a big fish is hooked and the angler needs to have a powerful retrieve to get the fish in, the 3.1:1 gear ratio can be used.
